At EyeTech, we educate you on most common refractive surgeries, Laser Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis, known as LASIK, and Advanced Surface Ablation, ASA. We will also provide you with pre- and post operation evaluations.
LASIK and ASA, are the most advanced refractive surgery procedure for correcting nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. These vision problems are caused by an irregularly shaped cornea, the outer surface of the eye. Dr. Lamei, will do your follow ups up to one year after your procedure to ensure proper healing as well as successful outcome of your procedure.
The IntraLase-ultrafast femtosecond laser is a bladeless laser technology to create the corneal flap when LASIK is performed. Then the excimer laser is used to re-sculpt the cornea to a more normal shape. If a patient suffers from thin corneas, instead of creating a flap the top surface of the cornea, the epithelium is removed with alcohol and the excimer laser is introduced to the stroll layer without a flap.
LASIK and ASA Procedures combine the skill of the refractive surgeon with the advanced technology of the excimer laser. The actual procedure takes only minutes to perform. Both procedures are virtually painless although a mild sedative and anesthetic eye drops are generally used during surgery. Patients can usually see quite well immediately after the surgery and frequently resume normal activities within a short period of time.
